The Ankh Ceremony: The Priestess and Priesthood Ascension of Anika & Jabari Osaze
| This very special episode of Kemetic Legacy Today features the Ankh Ceremony of Co-Hosts Anika and Jabari Osaze. The Ankh Ceremony includes the conferring of the carrying ankhs signifying the position of Priest and Priestess–Abu and Abut (the “Purifier”). After practising Kemetic spirituality for 14 years, the divine couple has achieved this important position. The Ankh Ceremony is officiated by Heru Ankh Ra Semajh Se Ptah, known as “The Ankh Man” or Baaba Heru, the Chief Priest of the Shrine of Ptah. Baaba Heru has served as spiritual father for the couple since their initiation into the Shrine in 1998. The conferment of the title officially mandates the creation by the Osazes of the Shrine of Ma’at. The ceremony also features the ritual purification of the space by the Abutu-in-training (Priestesses), anointment, and the Defense of the Ankh (questions from the guests). The event was held at the National Black Theatre in Harlem. |
